I'm aware my layout has, er, well, broken...

I believe this is due to a php upgrade on my host's servers. I would have thought my code would be too basic to be affected by this, but apparently not -_-

I think this is the kick I needed to re-design the site. Not really sure of the layout, but I know javascript (obviously not all of it), so hopefully I can include some nifty (but not annoying) features. And no more drop down menus! Boy are those bad for usability x_x

I suppose I might use the website I made for 1 of my uni modules' assignment. Though, it glitches a little in IE, but I'll re-use some of my JS from there :)

I just made my first ever google gadget. Pretty fun :D Nothing spectacular, just a quick search for play.com and the guild wars wiki. I'm hopeing with the play one to have a drop down to select which category to search (searches all right now) but that'll involve research for what the categories are in the URL and I couldn't be bothered tonight (cause it's late)

That's something I'll fix in the new layout! Ok, I should make a list for myself

• Made posts have the right time during british summe time
• Add a post preview
• Fix whatever went wrong with the php
• Use htaccess to give .html extentions
• No drop down menu!! -_-
• Add smilies
• Make own comment system
• Apply new database knowledge
• Apply new website knowledge
• DO THE PHP LAYOUT STUFF THE OTHER WAY ROUND!!! Don't worry, I know what I mean. I'm glad I don't have many files on this site cause I just had to change some stuff (which fixed the broken-ness of the site, so I could actually post this blog -_- )

Ok, that'll do for now. Suppose I have to come up with a new layout first x_x Used to be my fav part, but now it's not. I lost my creativity :'(

. I keep putting HTML p tags rather than XHTML ^^; But I've just been totally uninspired for website-coding lately :( Which really makes my internet tech assignment hard -_-

Got an average of 77% in my autumn term modules :D I'm really happy with that, because it's a first. Have been finding the spring term modules harder though, especially what we learn in the robotics & embedded systems lectures. Gah, I'm no good with hardware stuff, bits and bytes and whatever. But, I think I've got the hang of converting hex to decimal, via binary ^^; Not so sure about the other way :(

Mmm... What kinda layout should I do for this site next?? I really gotta get rid of that stupid menu, because it doesn't work in IE6 and is jut crap for making things easy for the user. Menus shouldn't be hidden :(

Might make my own comment system for the blogs / portfolio items too. Only, I'd have to approve them all, but that's no problem, just need to do an interface for it. Sanitising user input is annoying though...

Anyhoo, gotta run. Internet tech lecture. _{Woo, cause I don't know most of that stuff already -_-}

| Top Just started at uni this week, so busy busy busy. I'm reading Computer Science for those of you who don't know.

I really need to redesign the site. Found out the menu doesn't work in IE6 and older, and also that .png transparency doesn't work either. There's a javascript code I found via the dA forums to fix that. Stupid microsoft. And most people seem to be sticking to IE6 rather than upgrade FOR FREE to IE7. I guess the IE7 interface does suck, but come on, make life easier for us web designers. The pcs at uni use IE6 though so it's a good opportunity for me to start being able to test my designs in IE6.

Why can't CSS be like PHP. I love server side coding :D Not only can people not see your code but there's no stupid compatability problems. Damn you Gates! Although I have to say I do like the new interface for Excel and Word in Office 2007. Yummy £560 student discount :D

So yeah, I'm going to redesign the site, again. I guess I could just re-code the menu to use a:hover instead on div:hover but I don't like it much anyway. Learning more about web standards via the dA forums has really taught me that drop down menus although fun to code and snazzy (and a space saver) just aren't a good way to go. I think people prefer to be able to see all the links straight away. It does degrade ok though (man I love checking that on sites with firebug. Sad I know :P ) But my links are above my content at the moment, which is bad. Not that I expect anyone with a visiual imparement to need my site read to them, but it's good practice to make sure it degrades right.

Anyhoo, enough of the tech babble.

Uni is fun! Yup, that's right, fun. School was blegh but uni is relaxed (er but a good i'm gonna work kinda relaxed, lol). I'm so aiming for a first :D Only need 70%. I'm aiming for 100% on the multiple choice tests too because they should be easy. Plus they actually count towards my final %age :D

Argos are annoying me... I ordered a wardrobe from them last month and STILL haven't heard from them about a delivery date... I hate living out of suitcases -_-

Oh, oh, and damn you royal mail! I need my uni books from Amazon and you make them be delayed :( If only I'd paid for the postage rather than using super-saver delivery. The paid postage packages are being couriered but the free ones jsut have to wait. Which sucks.

Right, I'm gonna go home now (at uni) and get some food. Though, the bread probably isn't done yet (yep, I've been making my own bread :D 'Tis yummy!) Dave's a bit ill today, hope he's feeling better now. I'm gonna get to work on a new design for neow. I might put the tag board back on and just make it easier to delete the spam. But there's just no way to stop human spammers :( Hmmm... Maybe I could just approve them before they get added... Still, that's just slow. My robot prevention thingy worked though, but I know a way to do it with just css now.

I'm thinking about doing some updates... Might write my own comments script... Simple enough really. Not really happy with the layout anymore. No where near professional enough and doesn't show off my skills. But I'm totally stumped for ideas of the graphics not. Not only that, but the layout I have in mind is over 800px wide :( That's still against standards and I want to be totally standards compliant.

I want as much width as possible for content, but I also want a sidebar x_x Oh, decisions, decisions.

Might make myself one of those lightbox scripts so people don't have to view my portfolio images on a different page...

Oh if only you guys knew how cool the back end of my website was :D Sitting in my password protected part writing this within the layout :D Hate logging into my webhost's file manager -_-

Uni starts 4th October. Nowhere to live yet... I'm sure we'll find somewhere. Doing Computer Science specialising in internet technology, so hopefully I'll get loads of great ideas for the site soon :D

I might MIGHT bring back the tagboard... IF I strip all tags and urls from it. Because honestly I was fed up of the spam before. And if the urls dont post they'll give up doing the hugely spammy ones ;) I know how to protect it from bots now, and how to strip tags. I know also how to grab bits if it to replace, but I'm not really sure how to get it to recognise where an url ends. Ah, I'm sure I'll work it out ^_^

Yay, the forum lives!!! Thank you to my Guild Wars guild for wanting to use it :D I've missed running a forum so much lately! This is taking me back to my Imladris days. I miss all my friends from there :(

Anyhoo, for those of you that care (if anyone at all is reading this, lol) I applied to uni a few weeks ago. Haven't heard anything back from them yet, but I'm hopeful because they accepted me last year ^_^

Poor Dave has had bad hayfever today. Still all snuffly even though we're away from all the nasty pollen.

Anyhoo, that's about all I want to write here. Plently of other stuff I could write about that I'm stressed about at the moment but I'd just rather not say. Ask if you care at all, lol.

Also, if any of my friends from school are reading this talk to me on msn!! I don't like finding out from OTHER people when serious things happen to you, say, getting the mumps!! Yes, I don't phone you guys, but hey you don't phone me either!! And I don't even answer the sodding telephone now that's how bad my anxiety's got.

| Top Uncle Ted died today. Well, my uncle-in-law really, but I got on really well with him for the short time I knew him. He reminded me of my grandpa a lot, so it's dragged up a lot of emotions from when my grandparents died a few years ago. I never really grieved properly for them then, so I still miss them terribly.

Came up with a new idea for a short story. I know I ought to be working on The Child of Fate, but this short one will be great to put on my deviantart gallery.

Anyway, I have a headache and this is all I feel like writing today.

| Top Ok, my laptop died on friday night *cries*

This means I've lost all my art I've done since October, and apparenly the last time I did a full my docs backup was Sept 2005. I'm sure I've done one since, but meh.

Although my laptop is going to be fixed, I'll never trust it again so... I bought myself a new desktop ^_^ Will have to use vista though *shakefist* Will be great though. Paid extra to upgrade the monitor to a 20" ultra sharp widescreen, so it'll be great for my art :D

Also, I cut my hair yesterday, myself. Yes, stupid I know. And its ended up way too short, and a bit punkish, but I suppose its nice ^_^

My back hurts so much from using the big pc. Its just such an awkward place to sit x_x New pc's coming tomorrow though, so my back will be saved, lol.

Finally got round to making a new layout for this site! This is actually the 2nd one I've made this week, but I wasn't happy with the other one once I'd finished it. It will be available to view in my portfolio soon though :)

In other news... I'm definately going back to uni. Filled out most of the UCAS form, just waiting for my old tutor to reply to an email I send him. Also need to write a new personal statement. Woo, I just loved that so much last time -_-

Finished Okami today. Gonna play it through again straight away I think. I love that game so much :D
